In this episode, we take a look at Masters of the Universe, a film meant to cash in on the successful toy line and kids cartoon of the same name. With Cannon Films rapidly running out of resources, the film suffered from a lack of plot, a waste of talent and only slightly resembled the rich source material it was derived from. It’s not completely without merit – Frank Langella and Meg Foster do justice to Skeletor and Evil-Lyn, Dolph Lundgren is a dead ringer for the actual He-Man and the cast genuinely seems to be having a good time. That being said – this film definitely does NOT have the power.
Next week, we’re talking about one of the movies that helped send Cannon Films circling the drain and crushed the dreams of children – Masters of the Universe! Want to check it out before the show drops? It’s currently free to stream at the Paramount Vault on YouTube.
