In this episode, we look at one of our favorite 1980s action movies, Low Blow! Triple threat (writer/producer/actor) Leo Fong takes us on a journey of bad driving, chicken feet soup and the slowest punch outs ever as he infiltrates the cult of Cameron Mitchell aka Yaracounda. Also, the answer to how to attract quality goons lies in a dirt pit.
In this episode, we take a look at the 1958 sci fi monster movie, Fiend Without a Face! To modern eyes, this is a pretty tame one, but 60 years ago, it garnered an X rating from the Brits and was denounced for its gratuitous gore and violence. The times, how they are a changing.
In this episode, we take a look at Roger Corman’s 1979 musical comedy, Rock ‘n’ Roll High School, featuring the Ramones! The plot of this is nothing new, but there’s some good stuff in there anyway, including a great soundtrack and a young Clint Howard demonstrating bra removal on a blow up doll. Also, one well timed, giant explosion.
In this episode, we take a look at the original and 2006 Nic Cage version of the folk horror film, the Wicker Man! One involves the creepy machinations of an ancient fertility cult and the other involves Nic Cage dressed in a bear costume punching out women. We tried to answer the question of “how did it get burned?” but found that we got distracted by CGI bees turning out a more convincing performance than an Academy Award winner.
In this episode, we continue down the twisting path of Nic Cage bonkers action movies with the 1997 prisoners on a plane film, Con Air! Why did so many actual stars sign on for this ridiculous thing? Who greenlit Nic Cage’s sweaty mullet and Foghorn Leghorn accent? How is this somehow one of those films Nic Cage is actually mostly serious in? We don’t know the answers to any of these questions, but we try to figure them out.
